A Healthy Spiritual Life

The American Heart Association has listed seven behaviors and factors which will decrease a person’s risk of acquiring heart disease. Considering this is still one of America’s leading killers, our nation has been unsuccessful. Research has discovered one of the behaviors – a healthy diet – isn’t being followed. Americans simply believe their diets are healthy when they are not. The problem is not that Americans have little access to healthy food; it’s that they reject it and opt for less nutritionally sound foods on a regular basis. (more…)

“Dirt Bag!”

It’s hard to think that a statement such as, “You dirt bag!” could be taken in anything but the pejorative. After all, we would not infer that someone desires to issue us a blessing in some form or another with these words. But, if you think about it for a moment, there is a lot of truth in that statement. We are made of dirt, of dust. Genesis 2:7 says, “Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” So even though we are fabricated out of the elemental matter of creation, there is something that sets us apart from every other living being, or substance of creation. He’s Still Alive After Christmas

We still have our Christmas decorations up. It’s not that we aren’t motivated to sweep through the house and box everything up for another year; it just seems a bit too early. I’m not quite ready to put away all the reminders of this “most wonderful time of the year.” I realize that relegating these reminders to a couple of boxes in the garage doesn’t change the reality of things. The baby in the manger is still a part of our lives. He is still alive and will be every day of this New Year. (more…)
